New year, old year, some year

Few days to go to the 2011, yet 2010 is leaving us filled with many exciting happenings. Usually at this point it is the time of the year to review what you have done in comparison to what you have planned to do and again usually achieving 25% of that list would make you static that you actually did something about it.

Now the new list carries the left over or perhaps after review they get demonished and cancelled off completely.

One year is just a short time to plan anything properly anything significant at least. I would always think of three years as a good duration for any solid plan. Ideally reviewed very year and followed up every quarter.

All that sounds so cooperate, yet again aren't we living based on the cooperation of life? Our life.

The whole concept of being systematic and structural of your life verses living care free with no planning has been going on for a while now and shall continue until a never end. Ultimately, it falls back on each individuals personality and what is best fit for them to progress with their lives..

So a new year to come, an old one passing through... so exciting...

To increase awareness and Road Safety in Oman #1

There are probably many research papers and intensive studies put into this topic, however the question is "What can we do to increase safe driving, hence reduce accidents in Oman?".

I had a discussion today with few colleagues about it, after knowing about a recent accident that split a car into two...

One of them mentioned that pictures of accidents should be displayed as a reminder and part of the awareness campaign, well this has been happening already for few years now and it seems, either that they are not affective or the campaign should be restructured.

Either way, I doubt that looking at the pictures is good enough convince the majority, create a shock and stop people from breaking the rules and from driving recklessly.

Perhaps a potential idea that could have a great success, is for Royal Oman Police (ROP) to go public in their website and in newspapers with a list of individuals that have made any traffic offense or violation, from speeding to running traffic lights and also causing an accident.

This list should include the person's name and the violation that they made.

Now the logistics behind getting this into reality won't be a walk in the park, yet I believe that engaging the public and exposing those violators (which I could be one of them as well), would be able to at increase awareness and drive people to avoid getting violated!

Of course proper regulations have to be in place to govern this list and how names get added to it or get exempted from getting listed.

On another note, does the Omani law prevent listing names publicly in such capacity? Perhaps that will require some investigation to clarify...

I like this topic, will probably post again with another potential idea...

Region's first CGI Sci-Fi - Levity: Xero Error Minus1

region's first computer generated science-fiction movie Levity: Xero Error Minus1

The short eight-minute film was put together by a team of ten along with additional support staff over the course of 6 months, and will now have its regional premiere at the Gulf Film Festival in Dubai next week. Plans are also in place for an international premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May.

Levity, which cost AED 135,000 to produce, is part of a series of computer generation films under the Xero Error franchise that was conceptualised in late 2007, with each film focusing on events in history witnessed by the time-travelling cyborg hero XE7. What sets this concept apart from the usual Hollywood sci-fi fare with cyborgs and Artificial Intelligence (AI) is that Xero Error talks about a future when AI is superseded by Natural Intelligence (NI).

Director: Ashraf Ghori
Production:  Xpanse CGI (website)

Now this is interesting! Looking forward to watching it, and hope for it a smashing hit!

30 Seconds to Mars - A Modern Myth

Artist: 30 Seconds to Mars
Song Title: A Modern Myth
Year: 2007

Lyrics:
Did we create a modern myth

Did we imagine half of it

What happened then, a thought for now

Save yourself
Save yourself
The secret is out
The secret is out

To buy the truth
And sell a lie
The last mistake before you die
So don't forget to breathe tonight
Tonight's the last so say good-bye

The secret is out [x4]

Good-bye [x17]
------------------------------------------------

That is it! Very little words and s short track, yet I find this song very strong and has a hunting feel to it. I truly love it! Now what is even more beautiful of it, is the repetition at the end of "Good-bye" it is said 17 times, though I can feel that each time it has a unique song, meaning and feel.
